SEHIKYO is a fashion research and practice project based in Tokyo, Japan, and Seoul, Korea, run by Seohee Eto/Kim. This project traces and explores conceptual clues that emerge through the process of making and wearing garments, with a focus on collaboration between makers and wearers. SEHIKYO produces garments through DIY (do-it-yourself) practices such as knitting and sewing, using materials that bear traces of previous use, alongside the project’s visual research outcomes and images. This process highlights the material properties of garments, centring on the combination of materials and craft practices. In doing so, SEHIKYO seeks to deconstruct concepts inherent in clothing and fashion, aiming to pose personal or social questions through the act of wearing. By working together with wearers, SEHIKYO shares new ideas about making and wearing garments, ultimately expanding the meaning of clothing and wear.
