a conversation with Seohee
directed and filmed by Katharina Arwen

In May 2026, I first met Katharina Arwen when she purchased my zine, The Wedding Dress After Midnight, at Tokio Art Book Fair. Originally from Germany, she is a photographer and creative director currently working between Milan and Tokyo.
What began with a single zine naturally grew into long conversations about fashion. She was curious about the way I have independently developed my projects, while I found myself drawn to the quietness and subtle punk tension that coexist in her photographs (though I'm not sure what she'd think of me describing them that way). Before long, I knew I wanted to make something together.
At the time, I was preparing SEHIKYO's Summer Knit Edition, and I suggested documenting the process on film. Before the shoot, we met several times in second-hand bookstores, cafés, and izakaya around Koenji and Kagurazaka. Whenever we were together, there was an unusual sense of ease that made it easier to be a little more honest than usual.
That became the starting point for this film. We decided to simply record the conversation that unfolded in my studio about making clothes, wearing clothes, and the thoughts that often exist somewhere in between. It was my first time filming in this way, and there was a slight nervousness in my voice, but Katharina's calm direction helped me settle into the conversation almost immediately. Five minutes could never hold everything I'm thinking about right now, but I hope this conversation becomes a small invitation to look at clothing and fashion from your own perspective.
The SEHIKYO Summer Knit Edition featured in the film will be released soon.
